These days’ artisans at Nirmal produce the trademark birds, animals and fruits that are based on photographs instead of their own style, focusing on the study of shapes and forms of the subject. To enamel these toys synthetic paints are also used other than natural colors. The finely carved figures of Nirmal toys are used for decorating the homes of thousands across the country. These elegant toys are made out of locally available wood that is very light and flexible to cut into desired shape and size. Cutting wood into small pieces : In this process ponaki wood is cut into smaller workable pieces as per the product to be developed.
Shaping: Different wooden pieces are joined to form a body, mouth, neck, legs, tails, ears.(for example horse toy) with the use of fevicol as binding material.
Smoothing: After drying with help of rough file through rough shape is obtained.
Preparing gum: Paste prepared by boiling of tamarind seed powder is mixed with saw dust. this paste is applied on rough shape to get exact physical shape and dried.
